About the role

Temporary cover: This role is offered on a fixed-term basis for 12 months or until the return of the post holder, whichever is sooner. The University of Cambridge is seeking a full-time Assistant Disability Adviser to support the work of the Accessibility & Disability Resource Centre for maternity cover. The Accessibility & Disability Resource Centre (ADRC) is part of the Student Support Department within Education Services. The ADRC provides advice, information and support to prospective disabled applicants, undergraduates, graduates and to the staff who support them. It also provides support and advice to Colleges and Departments/Faculties on the Equality Act (2010) in relation to disability equality matters. The Assistant Disability Adviser will be responsible for a range of student support, advisory, administration and operational tasks within the Accessibility & Disability Resource Centre. The successful candidate will provide initial advice and guidance to students, focusing on academic-related disability support, working closely with the ADRC's Disability and Neurodiversity advisory teams. Information, advice and guidance will be provided to staff, students and external organisations as part of the defined service delivered to disabled students at the University of Cambridge. The role-holder will report into one of the ADRC's Senior Advisers. Interested applicants for this post should be educated to degree level (or equivalent) or have equivalent experience and have administrative experience within a Higher Education environment. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Experience of working directly with students and an understanding of the support requirements of disabled students in higher education are desirable.
