To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Mastery of domestic and international maritime laws, including Titles 33, 46, and 49 CFR, IMO regulations, MSPs, NVICs, and policy documents to perform inspections, audits, and evaluations of equivalencies, Qualified by a recognized government or industry standard as an advanced journeyman marine inspector or marine surveyor with expert knowledge of vessel design, construction, and systems (machinery, electrical, structural, fire protection), Comprehensive understanding of international quality standards (ISO 9001, ISM Code) and auditing procedures to oversee vessel safety, security, and environmental protection programs, Ability to apply technical judgment and originality to evaluate new technological developments, interpret technical manuals/test data, and resolve novel marine engineering challenges, Proven skill in negotiating with industry representatives (TPOs, ROs, shipyards), briefing executive-level decision-makers, delivering presentations, and producing high-level technical reports and correspondence.
