We are currently recruiting for a Health Care Technician Lead to function as a Preceptor at Central Regional Hospital (CRH) on the Adult Admissions Unit. The primary purpose of the Preceptor is to mentor to and provide assistance in training/instruction responsibilities. The Preceptor will also perform all the tasks, duties and responsibilities of lower-level Health Care Technician I & II as required in patient care. This role functions within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant - all duties are delegated by and completed under the supervision of a Licensed Registered Nurse. The position will function among varying patient population with varying legal and security status Why Join DSOHF? - Help people in crisis find stability - Work as part of a caring, mission-driven team - Build your skills in a supportive healthcare environment - Make a real impact across North Carolina Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $34,066.00 - $51,099.00 Recruitment Range: $42,588.00 - $51,099.00 *Limited-Time Sign-On Bonus for CNAs (Nursing Department Only) Total: $15,000 - Receive $4,000 in 1st paycheck following start date - Receive $5,000 after 12 consecutive months - Receive $6,000 after 18 consecutive months For a limited time period, DSOHF is offering increased sign-on bonuses for eligible Nursing Department positions, including health care technicians (CNAs) and patient-facing nursing roles who apply between June 1st - August 31st, 2026. Bonus is only available at State Psychiatric Hospitals and does not apply to administrative, educator, or non-direct care nursing positions. Installments are paid in accordance with requirements outlined in sign-on bonus agreement. Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Skills in patient interactions involving behavioral, physical and medical interventions (within scope). Skills in restrictive Intervention Techniques (NVCI, APT) and CPR Instruction. Collection of bio-statistical data (such as vital signs, lab draws and specimen collection). Ability to mentor and role-model the HCT/TSS roles while working with behaviorally difficult patients. Ability to perform as an instructor of NVCI, APT and CPR (when required). Conditional Requirements: Advanced Physical Skills (APS) certification through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR certification within 60 days. Valid Driver's License. The normal work hours for this position is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday however flexibility is required to meet hospital needs. This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather. *Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible.
