Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all automation related design, platform system integration and interface with the Ship Management System (SMS) and platform system related control and monitoring and logics, which includes basic and detail design :
  • SMS architecture
  • SMS functional description
  • I/O list
  • Integration of third party equipment / system with SMS
  • Conduct integration reviews with vendors and client
  • Control console design and control panel arrangement
  • Control room arrangement layout
  • Platform system automation design, system control and monitoring
  • Responsible for ship safety and surveillance related systems, which includes:Propulsion control systemDynamic positioning systemCCTV systemFire Detection SystemHarbour Duty Surveillance System
  • Review vendors technical proposal to ensure it meets the requirement
  • Responsible for ensuring the Contractual technical requirement and Classification requirement of automation related design are fulfilled and within project schedule
  • Liaise with client, internal engineering trades and vendors for project coordination
  • Technical review and meetings with client and vendors during project execution to ensure requirement are fulfilled, provide solutions and resolve technical issues.
  • Other features of job (Shift or night work, travel, working conditions)
  • Attend to local or oversea travels/deployment for project work (where required)
  • Attend Sea Trials for a specified period (Where required)
  • Knowledge & Skills:
  • Knowledge of Marine Electronics and Automation systems
  • Knowledge in computer networking, control instrumentation and control system design
  • Knowledge of standard communication protocols like Modbus RTU/TCP, Prrofibus, RS422, RS485, NEMA, CANbus, J1939
  • Knowledge in Autocad, Naviswork, AVEVA model software
  • Good Interpersonal Skills, problem solving skills and is a team player
  • Good time management and able to meet tight deadlines

Requirements

  • Working experience in Automation or Marine Industry
  • Education, Qualifications and Special Training
  • Degree in Electrical, Automation, Mechanical Engineering
  • Personality Traits
  • A team player who is also an independent thinker and doer, with effective interpersonal skills, organised and able to multi-task
  • Deadline driven, able to work within tight timeline/schedule
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills are important
  • Other Information:
  • Location: Benoi Road (Island-wide transport provided)
  • 5 days work week
  • Working Hours: 7.25am-5pm

Additional Information

Overall Purpose of Job: Able to assess engineering problems and develops pragmatic solutions to resolve engineering related issues for shipboard Automation projects, and to ensure the designs are in accordance to contractual specifications and marine classification requirement.
