About the role

The purpose of this position is to provide planning and management of the architectural design, implementation, maintenance, and support Enterprise-wide databases. The SQL Server Administrator will be responsible for building and maintaining SQL servers, access, and security as well as participate as a member of the Infrastructure Team by providing Windows server and infrastructure support as needed. This position will also participate in an on-call rotation and assist supporting other teams with their SQL and server requests. The SQL Server Administrator is responsible for providing the highest level of SQL server and database administrator services and expertise to support, administer and maintain the installation, configuration, performance, backup, and operation of SQL systems. This position is distinguished from the Systems Administrator in that it is responsible for resolving the most complex database issues. In addition, positions may provide leadership to other team members or other IT staff. Operating within a complex hybrid environment, this role performs advanced configuration of SQL server and databases, implements security policy base on RBAC principles, oversees SQL backups and conducts test restores on an approve schedule, and leads SQL related incident response during production-impacting events. The position serves as a Tier III SQL escalation resource and collaborates with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure solutions align with organizational standards and long-term technology strategy. Success in this role requires advanced technical expertise, strong architectural judgment, and the ability to influence technical direction while mentoring administrators and promoting continuous improvement. Work With Us | Maricopa County, AZ We Require Four years of relevant work experience, aligning with duties and responsibilities of the role Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.
