Job Description: Global Production Capacity Planning Lead Ciena's Optical Core Engineering Team is looking for a Global Capacity Planning Lead to be part of the team responsible for planning manufacturing/test capacity for NPI and contract manufacturers (including repair), to support all our product lines for Modems, Interconnects, Components, and RLS products. The role of the Capacity Planning Lead is to analyze currently deployed assets, test times, yields, other KPIs, to ensure production capacity needs are met. This involves in-depth knowledge of the overall test flow with all assets at every manufacturing site. The successful candidate will also work with the test engineering team and production teams to analyze required output versus existing and planned capacity. The roles will include visual reports, KPI scorecards and dashboards. How you will make an impact:: Develop and maintain robust capacity models using both theoretical and actual production data to forecast and optimize manufacturing performance. Analyze test and manufacturing data to identify production bottlenecks and proactively escalate issues to relevant teams for resolution, ensuring production targets are consistently met. Coordinate with the equipment procurement team to ensure timely availability of test/manufacturing equipment and consumables to support New Product Introduction (NPI), production ramp-up, and capacity requirements. Work closely with LCM EMS Management team to influence and collaborate with manufacturers to align production output with ideal capacity targets, driving efficiency across the supply chain. Monitor production (KPIs) and collaborate with test and process teams to address yield gaps and improve overall performance. Create detailed reports summarizing existing and planned capacity, along with insights into related issues, to support key performance indicators and decision-making processes. Communicate and work closely with all Supply Chain groups to ensure alignment with output requirements and production goals. Conduct cyclical reviews and make necessary adjustments to short, intermediate, and long-term capacity plans to ensure alignment with organizational needs and market demand. Participate in the development of integrated budgets, ensuring alignment with transfer and capacity requirements to optimize resource allocation. Lead and execute projects focused on capacity studies and cost-saving initiatives, driving continuous improvement across operations. Apply analytical thinking to transform complex data into actionable insights, informative reports, and visualizations that support strategic decision-making. Provide weekly status updates and reporting to support executive debriefs and program milestones, ensuring transparency and accountability. The must haves: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Production Planning, Capacity Management, or a closely related field. Working knowledge of Power BI and analytics tools such as DnA is highly desirable Familiarity with Ciena's test database and default management systems is an advantage. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities to identify issues and implement effective solutions. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) partners across the globe, fostering collaboration and driving results. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and engage stakeholders at all levels. Demonstrated willingness to take initiative, engage others, and drive outcomes to achieve organizational goals. The pay range for this position, in Canada, is $77,000 - $164,500.00 CAD. #LI-JD Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
