We provide the equipment needed to complete your job- tent, sleeping bag, PPE, backpack- just bring your work boots. Compensated travel time, depending on working location. Accommodation is provided during shifts and on resets. Potential for work that extends past the firefighting season.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain situational awareness.
  • Extinguish residual fire, including but not limited to breaking apart smoldering debris, extinguishing embers, or small flames, and moving burned debris so it.
  • Moving burned debris so it cannot reignite.
  • Operate trucks and ATVs.
  • Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright and Wright Canada Holdings culture of safety and employee ownership.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
  • Organization of equipment before, during and after shifts will be required.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Experience and Knowledge Expectations:
  • Must have completed: S100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety (or equivalent)
  • S185 Fire Entrapment Avoidance.
  • Five (5) certifiable days (12 hours per day) actively involved in firefighting would be preferred.
  • OFA Level 1, Chainsaw Operator and DTA Fire Module would be preferred.
  • Able to complete the Annual Physical Fitness Test-Moderate Standard.
  • Valid British Columbia Class 5 Driver's License and a current Driver's Abstract.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions and work, including exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work tasks such as rain, heat, sun, cold, snow.
  • Work well alone and with others.
  • Possesses the ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis and up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Must be able to write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
