About the role
SMITECH is seeking a detail-oriented Contracts Assistant to support contract administration, commercial documentation and claims coordination for M&E construction projects in Singapore. This role will work closely with the Contracts, QS, Commercial and Project teams to assist with documentation tracking, subcontractor records, progress claims, variation order support, correspondence filing and contract-related administration. SMITECH is an established M&E contractor involved in mega national projects with a rapidly growing presence across Singapore. We are actively expanding our operations and are inviting experienced, driven M&E and Civil engineering personnel to join our ranks for new and existing projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Contracts / Commercial team in contract administration and project documentation.
- Support the preparation, tracking and filing of progress claims, variation orders, subcontractor claims and payment-related documents.
- Maintain proper records of contracts, correspondences, quotations, purchase orders, claims, drawings and supporting documents.
- Assist in checking subcontractor submissions, quotation comparisons and basic commercial records.
- Coordinate with internal project teams, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants on documentation follow-up.
- Update contract registers, claim trackers, VO logs and other commercial control documents.
- Assist in compiling documents for audits, project reports, final accounts and project close-out.
- Support ad-hoc administrative and coordination duties assigned by the Contracts / Commercial team.
Requirements
- Diploma / Higher Nitec / Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration or related discipline.
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in contracts administration, QS support, commercial administration or project documentation.
- Experience in construction, M&E, infrastructure or project-based environment will be an advantage.
- Basic understanding of progress claims, variation orders, subcontractor claims and contract documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and document control tracking.
- Organised, meticulous and able to maintain proper filing and records.
- Good communication skills and able to coordinate with site teams, subcontractors and internal departments.
- Able to work independently while supporting a fast-moving project environment.
