We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and confident Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly kitchen team. Job Opportunity This is an important role within our home, ensuring residents receive a nutritious and enjoyable evening meal. The main meal preparation will be completed by the daytime cook; however, you will be responsible for managing the kitchen independently during the tea-time service. Confidence working alone in a kitchen environment is therefore essential. You will be supported by an experienced kitchen and care team and provided with full training, but you should feel comfortable serving meals, carrying out light food preparation, and ensuring the kitchen remains clean, organised, and compliant with food hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

  • Serving evening meals and refreshments to residents.
  • Preparing light meals, snacks, desserts, and beverages as required.
  • Following individual dietary requirements and special diets.
  • Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Washing up and ensuring all kitchen equipment is cleaned and stored correctly.
  • Completing food safety records and daily checks.
  • Supporting the smooth running of the kitchen during the tea-time service.
  • Creating a positive dining experience for residents.
  • Essential Skills
  • We are looking for someone who is:
  • Confident working independently and taking responsibility for the kitchen during the evening shift.
  • Organised, reliable, and able to work efficiently.
  • Comfortable carrying out light cooking and food preparation tasks.
  • Experienced in a kitchen, catering, hospitality, or food service environment (preferred but not essential).
  • Knowledgeable about food hygiene and cleanliness standards.
  • Friendly, approachable, and able to communicate well with residents and colleagues.
