Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Director of Surgical Services who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. The Director will report directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and is responsible for providing strategic leadership and administration in the areas of patient care, education, safety and quality in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice, utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. The Director will promote a professional practice environment and develop and maintain collegial and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across the institution to positively impact the business of clinical operations, nursing and patient care outcomes. These partnerships include ongoing collaboration with physician, facility and organizational leaders. Responsibilities include all aspects of clinical operations, clinician and patient/family education, customer service, patient safety, financial outcomes, and quality outcome management and regulatory compliance. As a Director of Surgical Services, you will: - Establish strategic plan, provide resources and has a clear vision for specialty/service line. - Collaborate with administrators, physicians, managers and other providers to facilitate planning, implementation, and evaluation of strategic plan and initiatives. - Collaborate with leadership to create an operational plan consistent with the program's strategic plan. - Ensure unit/department-based goals and objectives are consistent with the overall direction of the program and the overall hospital plan. - Guide priorities and focus of work for activities of the program and organization. - Link inpatient and outpatient plans to promote coordination of care across the continuum and to promote operational efficiency. - Facilitate/collaborate in the development of program and business plans to address newly identified patient care needs. - Develop annual and multiyear capital budget. - Develop annual operational budget to support strategic plan. - Establish productivity targets with managerial personnel. - Hold nurse leaders & support staff accountable - Be an integral part of the senior leadership team, representing their service/specialty at all levels of the organization - Maintain membership in at least one professional organization, participating on key practice issues, when able. - Maintain all licensure, required certifications, required mandatory education.
