About the role

Biofire Technologies is on a mission to give gun owners better tools for reducing preventable gun injuries and deaths, especially among children. We believe our technology, combined with a best-in-class customer experience, will define the future of firearms safety for the next generation. Our mission-driven approach has earned support from the firearm community, the tech world, and the media. Biofire employees encompass a diverse range of talents, including world-class engineers who have designed and tested firearms, medical devices, robots, cars, satellites, rockets, and supersonic jets; expert technicians from aerospace, defense tech, special forces, and gunsmithing; and elite operators from high-tech, advanced manufacturing, and regulated industries. Whether building the product or powering the company behind it, every Biofire team member is united by an obsession with safety, reliability, and operational excellence. OUR CULTURE Reducing accidental firearm injuries and deaths requires original thinking and authentic collaboration, so we're deeply invested in building a team and culture that can achieve our mission together. Team members enjoy autonomy and flexibility from day one, so expect to be immediately tasked with solving challenging problems and building new systems that work. We'll hold you accountable for executing audacious goals, giving and receiving honest feedback, and helping your teammates succeed. You'll receive respect, kindness, and support from every direction while you figure out how to get it all done. As Senior Software Technical Program Manager at Biofire, you will synthesize and drive key software product deliverables by bringing clarity to what must be delivered, what it depends on, and what it will take to execute. You will build operational mechanisms that improve how work flows across teams, use evidence to surface risks, resolve ambiguity, and protect data integrity in planning and reporting. You will partner closely with Engineering, Hardware, and Operations to create predictable release execution, establish strong intake and feedback loops, and maintain a forward-looking software roadmap that reflects priorities, dependencies, and delivery reality.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day responsibilities of the role will include:
  • Synthesize and maintain a single, accurate view of all software work-deliverables, dependencies, critical paths, and resourcing gaps-translated into a software roadmap that aligns stakeholders on priorities and sequencing;
  • Drive execution across Biofire's major software program areas by working shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers to clarify requirements and constraints, identify integration risks, translate technical work into executable plans, and remove blockers through lightweight operating mechanisms;
  • Establish durable cross-functional operating rhythms with Hardware, Operations, and Customer Engineering to coordinate handoffs, surface blockers early, and ensure fast decisions when tradeoffs are required;
  • Build and run lightweight intake, status, and reporting mechanisms-including feature request intake-that preserve data integrity, keep work visible, and enable evidence-based prioritization;
  • Own and evolve software release management by creating predictable release schedules and feedback loops that monitor release quality signals and publish recurring reporting on delivery and quality outcomes.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record delivering complex, cross-functional programs in technically demanding environments;
  • Strong program planning and execution skills, including building and maintaining critical paths, sequencing work, and aligning resourcing to outcomes;
  • Strong communicator and listener who turns technical complexity into clear decisions, updates, and next steps for diverse audiences;
  • Proven ability to partner directly with engineers to understand constraints, integration risks, and tradeoffs, and to drive crisp decisions and execution;
  • High operational excellence and attention to detail, with a demonstrated high bar for quality in deliverables and reporting.
  • COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • In addition to competitive pay, as a full-time employee at Biofire you are eligible for:
