Responsibilities

  • Provides physical and psychological comfort to patients. Monitors patient condition during transport and adverse reactions to drugs of treatment.

Job Requisition ID: R00050256 Job Category: Allied Health Organization: AirCare Location/s: Main Campus Jackson Job Title: Critical Care Paramedic - AirCare - Full-Time/ Part-Time Job Summary: To provide optimum critical/emergency care to sick or injured patients transported by aircraft or other vehicle to UMMC or other designated facilities. Education & Experience High school diploma/GED and completion of CAHEA or CAHEP EMT-paramedic program plus three (3) years of related pre-hospital experience. Maximum weight limit of 250 pounds when fully clothed. Individual must be able to lift a patient weighing 250 pounds onto a stretcher and to carry said patient and stretcher for a minimum of fifty (50) feet and load patient and stretcher into a helicopter or other vehicle, with the help of other provider. Certifications, Licenses or Registration required: valid driver's license, certification as NREMTP (National Registered Paramedic) and MS Paramedic and MS Critical Care Paramedic, required. Certifications in basic life support, advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support, neonatal resuscitation, NIMS (ICS 100 and 700) and either BTLS or PHTLS or ITLS. Certification in ABLS and ASLS preferred. Certification as a Louisiana NREMTP and Alabama NREMTP preferred. FP-C or CCP-C is required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of the information and techniques necessary to identify, diagnose and treat injuries and disease for adult, pediatric and neonatal patients. Knowledge of agents, equipment, procedures, and techniques for the provision of emergency and critical care for inter-facility and scene transports. Verbal and written communication skills. Ability to provide physical and psychological treatment and comfort. Ability to work calmly under stressful conditions. Ability to withstand exposure to noise, external weather conditions and high altitudes.
