Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Terminal (Fixed Term) Job Profile: Communications Manager Job Summary: Under the general direction of the Department Administrator and Department Chair, and working closely with the Vice Chairs, Associate Administrator and other team members within the department, the Communications Manager is responsible for communications for the SMPH, Department of Anesthesiology (DOA), with special emphasis on internal and external communications in the strategic areas including but not limited to clinical, education and research programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating, writing and editing publications, external correspondences, e-newsletters, e-mail communications, reports, executive communications, Web-based education content, Web and intranet content, and social media content. The position works collaboratively with the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) Dean's office and members of UW Health including such areas as media relations, community relations, marketing and communications, and regional development. The incumbent will be a leader in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a service-oriented culture within the DOA. This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding. This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
