We are looking for a forward-thinking and broadly experienced Technical Lead (Loudspeakers) with a proven track record in the consumer or professional audio products domain, who will own and lead change management, discovery, NPI, architecture, product compliance and maintenance work whilst the Product Delivery team develops our next generation of award-winning active studio monitor speakers. As one of our most senior developers, the Technical Lead will report to the Director of R&D and take charge of the technical direction of our Hardware Development team. At the same time, you will be partnering with our Product and Engineering management to ensure that we carefully weigh up our trade-offs and that dependencies and communication are managed effectively and transparently. Your Role and Responsibilities: You will be collaborating closely with cross-functional and multi-cultural teams in the company as well as with external partners to oversee, consult and guide the development part of it. On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for leading the Development team's delivery of fully assembled speakers, electronics hardware, firmware and QA, ensuring our designs are suitable for mass production and comply with latest market regulations (CE, CB, FCC, RoHS, REACH, PFAS, CRA etc.). You will be collaborating very closely with the Production teams in Germany and in Asia. As a crucial part of the R&D team, you will be able to directly influence the products we build and have a high degree of autonomy and ownership at problem solving. You will be planning R&D team activities, estimating complexity & cost and collaborating with leadership members to meet deadlines, cost & product feature requirements. You will be empathetically supporting team members. Individual and team development is important, and we will support you as you look for ways to grow and improve your personal knowledge and skills. We will also be looking for you to own and help improve our approach to engineering and design knowledge, including best practices, processes, and tools. There will be the opportunity to share knowledge and practices with all companies across the Focusrite group. Skills and Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical lead position in the following areas at consumer or professional audio: electronics, embedded firmware, QA, compliance and production Experience in applying common positive leadership and team building techniques Mastering a range of IT software tools like MS Office, Confluence, Jira and GitHub Strong ability to analyse and present trade-offs between cost, quality, complexity and development time Excellent team working and communication skills in English, both written and spoken - German language skills are an advantage Appetite for continuous improvement in all aspects of product discovery and delivery.
