The group's main business is the implementation of mission-critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers. Job Description Motorola Solutions is hiring a Installation Technician for our Phoenix, AZ Motorola Service Center location. Installation & Vehicle Modification Execute expert installation of mobile and fixed wireless radio systems, emergency lighting, sirens, controllers, mobile workstations, GPS units, and safety partitions in alignment with R56 Standards and manufacturer protocols. Perform vehicle modifications including electrical fitting, drilling, soldering, and optimized wiring/cable routing for emergency response equipment. Handle the precise removal and re-installation of original equipment (OEM) interior vehicle trim across a diverse range of makes and models, including sedans, SUVs, buses, and specialized commercial vehicles. Perform the removal and installation of mobile communications equipment following best practices and adhering to R56 Standards and Guidelines. Install various 12-volt electronic equipment, including Emergency Lights and Controllers, Sirens, Mobile Computer and Docking stations, Radio Chargers, Mobile Video recording equipment, GPS equipment, equipment consoles, and etc. Troubleshooting & Quality Assurance Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mobile radio and accessory installations to ensure full operational integrity. Verify functionality of all vehicle components by conducting comprehensive pre- and post-installation quality checklists. Utilize specialized diagnostic tools, including clamp-on ground resistance testers and Frequency Domain Reflectometers (FDR), to analyze site grounding and antenna system performance. Documentation & Client Consultation Maintain detailed records of vehicle condition and service history, capturing precise data on labor, parts, and unique client requirements. Consult with clients to propose optimal installation methods and conduct site walks to prepare accurate quotations for new or add-on projects. Protect customer confidentiality by handling all sensitive service information with absolute discretion. Operations & Professional Development Manage operational tasks including inventory control, shipping, receiving, and maintenance of a safe, orderly work environment. Commit to continuous professional development regarding emerging 12-volt systems, public safety technologies, and industry-standard installation techniques. Assist in complex, large-scale installation initiatives and coordinate assigned personnel to maintain efficient service workflows. Assist and provide technical guidance to junior installation staff to ensure adherence to quality standards. Candidate Expectations: Knowledge of basic electrical theory Ability to succeed in an often fast-paced environment, establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision. Must possess a High School Diploma or GED (Associate Degree Preferred) with at least 2 years of technical experience, or a combination of related education/military experience. Must be able to interact and communicate professionally. Ability to travel as needed 25% - 50% of the time. Be prepared to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules as required by project demands. Must be able to obtain the necessary background clearance as required by government customers. Flexibility for occasional travel may be required to support project needs. Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
