Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, co-workers and customers. Physical strength, agility, and dexterity required to perform the work. Ability to learn traffic routes and the location of governmental buildings and installations in and around the Washington, D.C. area in confined spaces. Ability to communicate effectively. This position may require the incumbent to be available for sudden recall in response to emergency events affecting the Senate campus/community, which may include after-hour or weekend work, and to potentially deploy to alternate sites in support of the Senate's contingency operations. Possession of a valid driver's license for at least three years and a good driving record. Pallet jack certification. Desired Qualifications Valid Forklift Certification with a commitment to maintaining certification. Proficiency in processing inventory requests, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Familiarity with various shipping methods, enabling effective coordination of deliveries. Possess a strong knowledge of receiving and warehouse practices, including safety, security, and standard customer service practices. Possesses strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills, effective written and oral communication abilities, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of logistics policies and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to adapt and be flexible, working with Senate staff, offices, and committees. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks and deadlines Working Conditions Since this position requires onsite presence in support of the U.S. Senate when in session, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during a lapse, in inclement weather, on holidays, and during late night, overnight, and weekend sessions. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted. This position directly supports essential services of the U.S. Senate. As such, this position requires the employee be available and prepared to work during a lapse, in inclement weather, on holidays, weekends, and during late nights to ensure essential services to the Senate continue without interruption.
