About the role

The Sanitation Manager provides direction and leadership in sanitation and plant hygiene in a manufacturing facility. This individual will drive the strategy, development, implementation, and sustainability of a cleaning and sanitation program to meet regulatory, global and corporate requirements related to food safety and sanitation. They will provide technical expertise that will implement new and creative technologies, processes, and procedures that will reduce microbiological risk and product contamination. This associate will provide support to the site by supervising and coordinating activities of contractors and associates engaged in duties concerned with food safety, cleaning and sanitation that enable the reliable delivery of products. This position also supports plant profitability by leading sanitation efficiency, including development of more efficient cleaning methods, developing standard work, training, cleaning validation and identification of operational savings. This role will lead indirect reports. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Full ownership and management of Sanitation Program Develops and updates Sanitation Procedures to reflect accurate cleaning processes, correct sanitation chemical management and correct sanitation tasks, executing best practices within Mars; Ensures that all sanitation standard work is properly documented and implemented. Lead Sanitation Validation, Risk Assessment & Allergen Clean Validation Verify SSOP's are being followed as intended. This may involve the need to support during weekend or night shift hours occasionally. Trains sanitation personnel and operations on Sanitation Procedures, proper chemical usage and handling. Ensures site Master Sanitation Schedule meets the Mars Global and Regional requirements and regulatory requirements. Trend sanitation KPIs and report to key stakeholders. Accountability for all Departmental stock & inventory control. Periodically inventories supplies and requisitions and distributes supplies and equipment; places orders as required. Performs employee performance evaluations and holds disciplinary/coaching meetings as needed. Support Special Project Assignments that may occasionally fluctuate between inside & outside environments, scheduled work shifts, scheduled workdays. Continued professional development with an ability to leverage new techniques, best practices, and other experts in the Sanitation field to current situation. Promotes sanitation philosophies and ensures all levels of participation. Lead investigations for deviations in KPIs, Environmental Swabs, ATP swabs Lead cleaning events/activities during incidents and investigation. Leads to continuous improvement as it relates to sanitation programs. Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following list that follows is representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
  • 3+ years of experience in driving a robust and sustainable sanitation program in CPG manufacturing
  • 5+ years of experience in driving a robust and sustainable sanitation program in CPG manufacturing preferred
  • Knowledge of manufacturing procedures to include but not limited to receiving commodities, all aspects of processing, packaging and distribution operations
  • Knowledge of all production equipment, site layout, sanitation, quality systems and preventive maintenance and their application within food production facilities
  • Knowledge and general acumen of applicable allergen, chemical cleaning, cleaning validation and verification
  • Sanitary Design Expert
  • Familiarity with SDS, PPE, Chemical and Safety programs and requirements
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively.
  • Reading and comprehension abilities for proper use of chemicals.
  • Must be able to follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines when using and storing chemicals.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of national Food safety initiatives by strict compliance to all FDA, SQF and AIB safety protocols and procedures.
  • As needed, must be able to work all shifts, weekends.
  • Ability to work in a Team environment in a positive manner of respect, cooperation & flexibility.
  • Proactive and self-starting, working in a culture of goal setting with continuous improvement focus and training and mentoring of team members.
  • EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required. (Engineering, Applied Sciences, Food Science, or relevant Technical degree) Equivalent combinations of education and work experience will be considered.
