- The following requirements are a MUST :
- Be at least 19 years of age to attend the academy.
- Be a citizen of the United States by application date.
- Successfully complete 19-week academy training and 15-week field training. Training academy is full-time days, fully paid. Selected candidates serve a 12-month probationary period.
- Pass assessment tests, medical and psychological examinations and a thorough background check which involves two polygraph examinations.
- Be of good moral character: no felony convictions (ever) or misdemeanor convictions (within five years of the date of application) involving moral character, perjury, or false statements.
- Be able to meet very restrictive drug standard. Must have possessed a valid driver's license for at least one year prior to the date of application and continuing to the date of employment.
- The hiring process for this position includes an English Language Written Exam and a Writing Sample. These assessments will be conducted virtually. It is the responsibility of each applicant to check their email for correspondence regarding these assessments.
- VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED WITH ONLINE APPLICATION. MUST OBTAIN FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
- BY THE EMPLOYMENT DATE, THE APPLICANT MUST RESIDE WITHIN A THIRTY-FIVE (35) MILE RADIUS OF THE INTERSECTION OF CENTRAL BOULEVARD AND ORANGE AVENUE.
- If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
