About the role

We are seeking a skilled LRU Technician to join our maintenance team. The LRU Technician will be responsible for the assembly, repair, testing, and replacement of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) used in complex systems, ensuring operational readiness and compliance with quality standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Execute precise electromechanical assembly of flight and development avionics hardware, including the fitting and integration of PCBAs, torquing, sealing, alignment, harness routing, thermal interface installation, and enclosure assembly to deliver fully integrated avionics units.
  • Prepare, clean, and handle components per strict military and aerospace cleanliness standards.
  • Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and work instructions to ensure accurate assembly.
  • Identify, document, and communicate any non-conformances or build issues to engineering and quality teams.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing engineers, quality assurance, and design teams to troubleshoot issues, implement process improvements, and update documentation.
  • Maintain accurate build records and ensure full traceability of parts and workmanship consistent with aerospace standards.
  • Perform functional testing on avionics assemblies to verify compliance with specifications and document all results.
  • Assist in polymeric process applications such as potting, encapsulation, bonding, and conformal coating on electronic assemblies and harness terminations.
  • Conduct conformal coating touch-ups on PCBAs, including masking, application, curing, and inspection in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts aimed at increasing assembly efficiency, quality, and process repeatability.
  • Adapt effectively to a fast-paced, high-mix production environment with frequent design changes, especially related to flight hardware.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, quality, and rigorous documentation discipline.
  • Communicate effectively across cross-functional teams, supporting seamless collaboration.
  • Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • Previous experience as an LRU technician or in a similar role within aerospace, defense, telecommunications, or related industries.
  • Proficient knowledge of electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems related to LRUs.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals.
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and functional test systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and potentially on-call if required.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical assembly skills, including torque tools, bonding, and integration of electronics into enclosures or chassis.
  • Hands-on experience assembling electro-mechanical avionics components, prototypes, and development hardware with iterative design updates.
  • Skilled in harnessing, PCBA handling, electromechanical assembly, coatings, and staking.
  • Practical knowledge of polymeric processing for electronic assemblies.
  • Experience working in military or aerospace production environments with high standards for quality and traceability.
  • Current or prior certifications in NASA-STD-8739.3, IPC-A-610 (Class 3), IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Class 3), J-STD-001 (Class 3), and IPC-CC-830 (Conformal Coating) or equivalent.
  • Proficient with a variety of hand tools and assembly equipment used in avionics manufacturing.
  • Background using MES/ERP systems for tracking work orders, part usage, and nonconformances.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to handle small parts and operate fine motor tools.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing or maintenance environment.
