About the role

Business Unit The S1 Legal & Administration Line functions as the backbone support system for corporate security, legal affairs, government affairs, administrative affairs, procurement, infrastructure, and corporate social responsibility. What the Role Entails Tencent is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel focusing on AI models, open source software compliance and technology licensing. As one of the key members in the Tencent overseas legal team, you will have an exciting opportunity to support our international and domestic software development and product teams in the areas of gaming, cloud, online content, and platform services, open-source software and AI models related projects. Advise on a wide range of legal and business matters in the areas of technology licensing and open source compliance. Draft, review and negotiate software license agreements, professional services agreements, and other general commercial agreements. Develop and continuously identify areas of improvement in our open-source policies, forms, case and knowledge management, training, and processes, provide internal compliance training and improve operational efficiency in accordance with international standards. Collaborate with external counsel and other Tencent attorneys based around the world, including in mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, EU, and the US, to provide compliance and regulatory analysis and advice for international business initiatives. Identify potential legal issues and pitfalls and devise creative solutions for business teams to efficiently mitigate compliance risks. Who We Look For Key expectations and criteria: You have exceptional academic credentials, including an advanced law degree from a prestigious, internationally recognized law school. Admission to practice in a major overseas jurisdiction is required. An undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field is highly preferred. You have at least 5 years of post-qualification experience gained at leading international law firms and/or multinational companies. Experience in technology transactions, commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, and cross-border legal matters is strongly preferred. You have sound business judgement and the ability to deliver practical, commercially friendly and comprehensive advice. You have excellent communication skills and can establish strong working relationships with business stakeholders. You have the ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment and can work independently to manage day-to-day compliance work and handle the end-to-end transaction process from initial contract review through to negotiations and execution. You thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced, and constantly evolving technology environment, and are comfortable dealing with complex, time-sensitive, and cross-functional matters. You are a fast learner and passionate about the latest developments in cutting-edge technology matters. You have a good command of Mandarin Chinese and English (both written and oral) as a working language.
