Position Summary The Department of Nursing in the School of Health Professions at National University invites applications for the position of Nursing Faculty, within the concentration of Childbearing Nursing. This position is a full-time faculty position with a reduced teaching/scholarship/service load. This position works closely with faculty in the concentration and program leadership, including the Course Specialist, Academic Program Director, and Campus Assistant Program Director. Nursing Faculty contribute to programmatic strategies, curriculum design, and operations of the Department of Nursing to ensure program quality, as well as student engagement and success. Nursing Faculty provide intellectual leadership toward achievement of the highest possible level of excellence in nursing education and professional skill development. The successful candidate will have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching. Nursing faculty primarily teach theory courses with the possibility of clinical rotations within their approved specialization by engaging students, offering excellent feedback, and inspiring students to achieve course and program outcomes relevant to nursing education. Essential Functions : Candidates will be evaluated for their level of proficiency and potential (for excellence) in teaching, scholarship, and service. The main expectations of this position include: Instruction Teach courses in Childbearing Nursing, as assigned by the Campus Assistant Program Director. This position primarily focuses on teaching theory in the classroom although clinical rotations may be requested. Leverage adaptive and advanced technology-based educational approaches to student engagement and learning outcomes. Maintain the rigor, high standards and consistency of courses that attract, retain, and prepare a diverse body of students to meet workforce demands. Ensure course and program practices are aligned with compliance and accreditation. Establish personal and authentic presence while sharing experience, skills, and knowledge with students. Provide timely, substantive communication and feedback utilizing technology tools. Adhere to National University's academic integrity policy. Adhere to all policies of National University and the School of Health Professions. Scholarship Scholarly activities are encouraged to maintain professional growth and meet accreditation expectations. Service Participation in program and department meetings is expected. Serve on committees when required in the department or school. Participation in professional development as required for accreditation and license renewal is expected. Participation is encouraged in Professional groups to stay abreast of new trends and innovations. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications : Education & Experience Unencumbered registered nursing license in the State of California required. Master's degree in nursing required, with a specialization in nursing education preferred; MSN specialization should be noted. A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in direct patient care required. At least 1 year of direct patient care experience in Labor & Delivery in the last 5 years preferred. Will consider experience in Postpartum Nursing as well. A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in pre- or post-licensure nursing programs required. Doctorate degree preferred. CNE (Certified Nurse Educator) from National League for Nursing (NLN) preferred. Certification within nursing specialty preferred. Knowledge of Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) standards. Knowledge of Competency Based Curriculum and AACN 2021 Essentials preferred. Online higher education experience preferred. Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining courses preferred. Special conditions of employment include: Background check required. Travel is required at least once annually to attend NU's Commencement ceremony (if held onsite) as well as to clinical sites as required by the Campus Assistant Program Director.
