For questions regarding this recruitment please contact Ada Garrido at ada.garrido@tucsonaz.gov ABOUT THIS JOB Position Specific Summary The Electronics Technician Supervisor for the City of Tucson's Department of Transportation & Mobility leads and supervises staff responsible for the maintenance, operation, and improvement of traffic signal systems and related communication infrastructure. The position ensures safe, reliable, and efficient service delivery through oversight of system maintenance, repairs, compliance, and operational performance. The role also coordinates project materials and resources with project managers and contractors, while ensuring all field activities and maintenance work are accurately documented in the Cartegraph Operations Management System to support reporting, accountability, and operational efficiency. Work is performed under the supervision of the Transportation Administrator. This position exercises supervision over Electrical Shop personnel. Duties and Responsibilities Supervises and directs Electronic Technicians and other skilled personnel involved in the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of traffic signal systems, communication networks, ITS infrastructure, and related traffic control devices. Reviews traffic signal design plans, specifications, and project documents to ensure compliance with City standards, safety requirements, and operational needs while providing technical recommendations and support for project implementation. Oversees traffic signal and ITS projects, including planning, scheduling, prioritization, procurement coordination, contractor oversight, and allocation of personnel, materials, and equipment resources. Manages the traffic signal maintenance and operations budget, including expenditures, inventory, forecasting, and resource utilization to promote operational efficiency and fiscal responsibility. Provides leadership, training, and performance management for assigned staff, including recruitment, onboarding, employee development, scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluations. Responds to emergency traffic signal outages and operational issues on a 24/7 on-call basis to maintain public safety and minimize disruptions to traffic operations. Investigates and resolves public complaints, coordinates with contractors and external agencies, and ensures accurate documentation of maintenance activities and project work within the Cartegraph Operations Management System. Evaluates new traffic signal technologies, equipment, and products for operational effectiveness and recommends approved products for inclusion on the City's Qualified Products List (QPL).
