Director of Sustainability (Stakeholder Engagement)

About the role

The Director of Sustainability (Stakeholder Engagement) will serve as the primary lead for stakeholder engagement and communications relating to a company's sustainability strategy, initiatives, and ESG commitments. The role will focus on building trust, fostering collaboration, and ensuring effective engagement with stakeholders impacted by the organisation's sustainability agenda.

Responsibilities

• Stakeholder Mapping & Engagement Strategy
• Identify, assess, and prioritise key internal and external stakeholders relevant to the organisation's sustainability objectives.
• Develop and implement structured stakeholder engagement plans to support sustainability initiatives and ESG goals.
• Relationship Management :
• Serve as the primary point of contact for NGOs, industry associations, community organisations, government agencies, investors, and other stakeholders on sustainability-related matters.
• Build and maintain long-term partnerships that support the company's environmental, social, and governance objectives.
• Internal Sustainability Advocacy
• Work closely with management and employees to drive awareness, understanding, and adoption of sustainability initiatives.
• Facilitate internal engagement and alignment towards the organisation's sustainability targets and commitments.
• Sustainability Communications
• Translate sustainability data, initiatives, and performance outcomes into clear, accurate, and transparent communications for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support ESG disclosures, sustainability reporting, and stakeholder communications while ensuring compliance with anti-greenwashing principles.
• Stakeholder Feedback & Materiality Assessment
• Gather, analyse, and communicate stakeholder feedback to management to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to materiality assessments and stakeholder engagement processes required for sustainability reporting and ESG governance.
