About the role

This position will serve as a Branch Chief who oversees staff at multiple grade levels. You will remain in your current official duty station of record unless you are in the National Capital Region. Selectees with a current duty station in the National Capital Region-defined as the District of Columbia; Montgomery and Prince George's Counties of Maryland; and Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William Counties of Virginia-will need a new duty station established prior to entrance on duty Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Time in Grade: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet the time in grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. GS-14: Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, or it's non-federal equivalent. Specialized experience is defined as Performing the full range of supervisory functions and providing appropriate supervision to ensure staff has the skills, knowledge, tools, training, feedback, priorities, and automation support they need to accomplish their jobs; experience in managing strategic planning initiatives to help forecast goals, deliverables, and initiatives for the organization; experience utilizing a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of organizational and mission effectiveness, or the improvement of complex management processes; experience planning, organizing, and directing team work; experience collaborating strategies effectively with management across organizational boundaries to develop and implement recommendations where the proposals involve substantial agency resources, or require extensive changes in established procedures. There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-14 level.
