Responsibilities
- Plan, implement/facilitate/lead and evaluate one to one, self-directed and group recreation programs based on assessed needs, abilities and interests of residents (social/physical/intellectual/emotional/spiritual).
- Perform other departmental tasks as required or as assigned by the Resident Program Manager.
- Set up and clean activity area as necessary and transport residents to and from programs and meals.
- Monitor the behaviour and condition of residents during programs and report any significant changes to the Resident Program Manager and nursing staff as appropriate.
- Maintain program and resident records and departmental communications including daily attendance, multi-disciplinary progress notes, resident assessment, quarterly/annual reviews as well as program audits as per department policy.
- Work cooperatively with Programs Department staff, volunteers as well as all multi-disciplinary team members to meet resident needs.
Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies or therapeutic recreation preferred. Will also consider kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university or enrolled in same. If enrolled, must complete education program within 3 years of hire date.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written), as well as excellent leadership/organization and documentation skills.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience with Point Click Care and Activity Pro and Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel) preferred.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one-one/group program planning, implementation, and evaluation with a diverse population.
- Flexible, energetic, detail oriented, able to work independently and ability to manage time effectively.
- Ability to plan, implement, evaluate new ideas, resident programs and volunteer initiatives.

This position is for our Forest Trail Home, located in 514 Deline St. Peterborough, ON K9K 1T3. *** This position starts as casual in our Peterborough LTC home and will transition to full time / part time at our new Forest Trail LTC home in Summer of 2026***
