Pay is $24/hour OVERVIEW OF POSITION: The Research Assistant Intern will support the ESSC Research Division at Easterseals by performing clinical research tasks, including data collection, analysis, experimental procedures, and literature searches. This internship provides a valuable chance to gain practical experience in a clinical research environment, working closely with experienced researchers. Interns may conduct behavior intervention tasks for research purposes after completing the initial course or acquiring at least 10 weeks of research experience, such as participating in clinical trials or data extraction. The role may also involve providing behavioral interventions under general supervision to individuals with autism spectrum disorder and related disabilities through planned strategies, including discrete trials, antecedent and consequence modifications, and reinforcement techniques. Interns will also support caregivers in implementing strategies to enhance skills and reduce challenging behaviors. This position is structured as a three-quarter (nine-month) internship to align with program needs and learning objectives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Records and summarizes data accurately. Inputs data into databases and ensure data integrity. Prepares laboratory and research materials. Assists with data analysis and graphing. Conducts literature searches as needed. Attends and participates in laboratory meetings. Conducts experimental sessions and assess data reliability. Meets regularly with Associate Researchers and/or Primary Investigators. Reads assigned literature to stay updated on scientific developments relevant to the ESSC Research Division. Assists with participant recruitment and other related tasks. Communicates effectively and write proficiently. Works cooperatively with a variety of individuals and diverse groups. Interprets and implements policies, procedures, and regulations. Exercises discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive data. Attends staff meetings, in-service, treatment plans, trainings, and other meetings as required. Completes necessary documentation, including skill probing, preference assessments, treatment notes, and data charting related to progress reports and exit summaries. Keeps updated records of other site, program, and participant-related documents and reports. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Psychology). Must be a currently enrolled student at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Previous research experience preferred but not required.
