Senior Software Engineer, Application Layer

Responsibilities

• Your mission
• Turn Emidat's verified environmental data into applications that make producing sustainable materials a business value. That means discovering and building the most customer demanded applications, working closely with our product team.
• As a Senior Engineer on this team, you own the full product loop. You don't implement specs handed to you; you're in discovery conversations, forming hypotheses, shipping, and measuring. High autonomy, high accountability.
• In the first 6 months, you will
• Own core parts of the digital product passport platform: design, build, and ship the features that let manufacturers generate, manage, and share certified product data that unlocks real market access
• Get in front of users: participate in discovery with commercial and sales teams, develop your own understanding of what makes environmental data useful in a sales context, and translate that into product
• Contribute to finding what drives recurring value: instrument features, analyze usage, talk to users, and bring that signal back into how the team prioritizes
• Improve how we build: invest in tooling, processes, and abstractions that multiply the team's output
• Take full ownership over complex, ambiguous projects: define requirements, navigate trade-offs, and drive delivery
• Identify problems others don't see, and turn them into actionable proposals

• What you should bring to this role
• Minimum requirements
• 8+ years of professional Software Engineering / Architect experience. Expertise in Python.
• Experience driving new product initiatives for a B2B Software platform, building & bringing additional value for users, showing strong product empathy and driving architectural and feature decisions based on product outcomes
• Experienced working in a high-paced environment (i.e., Demonstrated ability to take a feature from initial discovery and conceptualisation through development, deployment, and iterations with users
• Experienced in leveraging AI tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate product development
• Business-Fluent English (written and verbal) for internal and external communication.
• Experience translating high-level business problems or incomplete specifications into actionable development plans

Requirements

• Domain knowledge or professional exposure to adjacent sectors, such as Climate/Sustainability, Construction Tech, or Manufacturing
• Hands-on familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure practices, including Infrastructure as Code (e.g., OpenTofu), container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and defining automated deployment pipelines
