The School of Engineering invites applications for a Reader or Professor position in the field of Power Electronics. The post is on the Research and Teaching pathway. The post will take a leading role in carrying out research of internationally leading quality, through development of research activities. This includes leading major collaborative research activities with other institutions or bodies to bring significant benefit and impact to the University's national and international standing. The postholder will also teach and lead on the development, management and delivery of courses within Electrical Power and Energy Engineering, including those at undergraduate (conventional and degree apprenticeship), postgraduate and continuing professional development levels. Continued engagement in professional development in relation to teaching, learning and assessment, related to academic, institutional and/or other professional practices is expected, alongside leadership/management contributions to other activities (including administration) that will influence and shape outputs and strategies within the School of Engineering, the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Medicine and the University. About You Candidates must: Hold a PhD level qualification or equivalent in Power Electronics, (or Physics, Chemistry or Engineering) along with substantial experience and track record of research, teaching and administration at a major university or equivalent. Evidence a major academic and/or professional track record in Power Electronics/ Semiconductor Devices, with evidence of extensive impact through peer-reviewed journals and/or other outcomes. Evidence their ability to develop strong national, European and International links with academia and industry, as well as demonstrate strong ability in teaching and assessment at all levels. Demonstrate strong ability in teaching and assessment at all levels, including initiating developments in the teaching curriculum. Responsible, effective and efficient management and leadership of the curriculum, including the delivery of teaching programmes and appropriate assessment techniques. For Professor, the candidate should be able to demonstrate significant research leadership including a history of sustained leadership and participation in funded research and industrial collaboration, plus a strong international reputation in power semiconductor devices, electronics and applications. We welcome applications from candidates whose research area is in WBG and ultra-WBG Power Semiconductor Devices, Packaging, Converters and Applications in Electrical Engineering from transportation to renewable energy and all other sectors.
