Position Summary Responsible for executing security related programs and plans to support the physical protection of SJI's human capital, property and digital assets. Essential Functions: Review, execute and promote security, property protection, and response and recovery programs to physically protect SJI's people, property, plant, and digital assets. Identify and evaluate recommendations for improvements to programs as needed. Participate in the development, implementation, and compliance of and with security policies and procedures, security budgets, and the management of security resources. Participate in emergency planning, crisis management, and risk analysis programs related to people, property, and technology. Conduct investigations of threats to SJI Employees, property and/or technology assets originating from sources both internal and external to SJI. Support management (where deemed necessary) for key human resources at their residences, offices, or in travel status. Develop and maintain a close relationship with commercial intelligence sources and security/intelligence related groups and associations. Provide a point of contact with local, state, and federal law enforcement and judicial officials in support of the security and business interests of SJI Assist in the administration of day to day security within the guidelines and procedures established by SJI. Remain current with the capabilities, service standards, and equipment of vendors of security equipment and services and make recommendations as to the procurement and utilizing of such services and equipment. Work collaboratively with management teams to integrate cross program activities and functions. Ensure that close coordination and liaison is maintained with: Corporate/SJG Safety Committee Corporate Facilities Local Law Enforcement Agencies Local Fire Departments Security Alarm Contractor(s) Security Guard Service Contractor(s) Develop and administer contracts and agreements with various security related contractors and consultants such as: Security alarm / security guard / security camera services, Special event security services, Security monitoring services (such as social media scanning) Manage internal and external resources in support of SJI"s security objectives Collaborate with and provide support to security related training programs Required Skills: Proficient oral and written communication skills Working knowledge of computers, database and internet search engines is required Ability to develop briefing and training presentations Working knowledge of access control, safety, and intrusion control/detections systems Demonstrated ability to work well and interact with a diverse work force by employing strong interpersonal skills Working knowledge related to physical security protective assessments and criminal investigations Experience and proficient in investigative techniques, to include interview techniques, and the laws relating to search and seizure, evidence and civil rights Demonstrated analytical abilities Experience of working with multiple stakeholders, government agencies, and regulators Excellent leadership, communication, crisis management, negotiation and persuasion skills Flexible, disciplined, and task oriented; able to deliver results Works well under pressure
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or;
- Master's degree with 4 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 8 years Corporate Security, Law Enforcement, or Military Experience
- In addition, a minimum of 1 year of leadership experience is required.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
