Welder Fitter

About the role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager , the Welder Fitter is responsible for performing safe, high-quality welding, cutting, fabrication, repair, and modification work on plant structures, equipment, and support systems. The role supports manufacturing operations by ensuring welded components and fabricated items meet required safety, quality, and durability standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out welding and hot work in compliance with site permits, fire prevention controls, gas handling requirements, and PPE standards.
• Perform welding, brazing, cutting, grinding, and fabrication work on plant equipment, pipework, support, guards, platforms, chutes, frames, and general maintenance items.
• Repair worn, cracked, or damaged components using suitable welding methods and materials.
• Ensure fabrication and repair work is strong, dimensionally correct, and suitable for operating conditions.
• Support maintenance teams with emergency repair work to reduce plant downtime.
• Support documentation of fabricated modifications and updated drawings where applicable.

Requirements

• To be successful in this role, you will have the following:
• Trade Certificate, recognized welding qualification, or equivalent practical trade experience
• Good welding and fabrication skills
• Good workmanship, attention to detail, and pride in quality
• Ability to work safely under time pressure during breakdown situations
• Good communication skills and ability to work closely with maintenance personnel
• Experience with stainless steel fabrication and pipe welding with exposure to basic fitting and plant shutdown work is added advantage.
