- Must cross train and maintain competence in two (2) or more units in addition to maintaining competence to work in all the Medical/Surgical units.
- Applicable certifications:
- BLS required.
- ACLS for PCU and ED required.
- TNCC, ENPC, and PALS for ED must be successfully obtained within twelve (12) months of hire.
- BSN degree preferred. National Certification in Medical, Surgical, or emergency care preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
- Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.
- Job Specific Duties:

- Exhibits knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to the RN's specific job duties, patient care population being served, and safety.
- Operates and maintains equipment to departmental standards and exhibits an understanding of the processes for removing a malfunctioning piece of equipment from service.
- Maintains age-appropriate nursing standards of care and executes appropriate physician orders.
- While executing patient care, exhibits knowledge of and maintains the patient's right to diversity, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Performs a comprehensive assessment of patient on admission and at regular intervals appropriate for the condition of the patient and/or as ordered by the physician/provider.
- Performs administration of medications, treatments, physician/provider specified care, and intravenous therapy to patients, in compliance with hospital and nursing policies and procedures.
- Performs reassessment of patient(s) to monitor status, identify changes in vital signs, lab work or status, implement interventions as ordered or defined, and to evaluate patient responses to treatment or therapy in compliance with hospital and nursing policies and procedures.
- Documents all clinical findings and required regulatory mandates in the chart in compliance with hospital and nursing policies and procedures or as defined by regulatory requirements.

PRN status Float Pool RNs are scheduled to work 6 shifts in a 6-week schedule , and shifts may include days or nights. Float Pool RNs earn a premium pay rate, receiving an additional 18% on top of their base wage.
