JOB PURPOSE Lead the development and management of certain global/regional product strategies designed to leverage the collective purchasing power of the business and synergistically maximize opportunities to optimize supplier performance, reduce total supply costs, and meet our technology expectations across the supply chain. Ensure that the commodities plan complies with the designed strategies. Negotiate contracts with key suppliers. Provide global leadership in communication, implementation, coordination, and enforcement of commodity strategies.
Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate local and international suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate contracts, prices, and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Ensure procurement aligns with company goals (e.g. cost, quality, sustainability).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with global suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance using KPIs (quality, delivery, cost, compliance) in collaboration with Quality and PC&L
- Resolve conflicts or performance issues proactively.
- Develop cost-saving initiatives across sourcing and logistics.
- Analyze total cost including, shipping cost, duties, installation cost, training, waste disposal, etc. and optimize procurement strategies.
- Manage budgeting and forecasting related to sourcing activities.
- Assess geopolitical, financial, and operational risks in global supply chains to develop mitigation plans accordingly (USMCA)
- Ensure suppliers comply with regulations, ethics, labor laws, and sustainability standards.
- Develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions.
- Work with engineering, manufacturing, quality, legal, and finance and corporate teams.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) by aligning supply capabilities.
- Translate business needs into supply strategies.
- Generate reports for leadership on supplier performance, risk, and cost trends, cost savings, etc.
- Integrate sustainability into supply sourcing practices.
- Stay updated on global supply chain trends and emerging technologies
- Establish processes and systems that enable the generation, sharing, and negotiation of strategic purchases, ensuring the proper functioning of direct purchasing areas.
- Coordinate and actively participate in the development of materials and services suppliers, as well as in the evaluation of their quality and reliability.
- Prepare the annual work plan to define the strategies to be implemented to meet the buyers' objectives and thus comply with GSM's management strategy. Support buyers in product or service negotiations. Communicate strategic and improvement plans to the general management of PHINIA SLP.
- Implement strategies to obtain price reductions and improvements in purchasing conditions for materials, products, and services.
- Comply with the buyer development plan.
- Ensure that initiatives and negotiations with suppliers are in the best interest of PHINIA SLP, taking into account long-term and sustainable considerations.
- Attend and participate in the Annual Final Inventory.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, administration, related discipline, International Trade, or other related fields.
- Experience in a similar position: 10 or more years of experience in Purchasing and/or Supply Chain.
