SHIFT: Sunday-Thursday (11PM - 7AM) The Mechanic 1 Technician will work in conjunction with the maintenance, production, and engineering departments. The primary job responsibility is to support production through effective and timely equipment downtime troubleshooting involving mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic breakdowns. Develop and implement equipment process improvements through the use of technology and automation. 2. Duties and Responsibilities: b) The Mechanic 1 Technician will respond to breakdown calls as directed by the maintenance supervisor and will work independently and under the instruction of the reliability engineer. c) Daily communication and interface with the maintenance supervisor will be required. This position is expected to effectively communicate equipment issues, maintain downtime reports and work orders in the computerized maintenance system, MVP. d) Assist the maintenance staff in operational debug of machine mechanical systems and all other related components in a timely and efficient manner utilizing Tarkett standard techniques and approach. e) Assist the appropriate engineer in machine validation, both internally and at the customer's facility while maintaining Tarkett work ethics and standards. f) Communicate with the project "team" to ensure a constant level of project awareness. g) Attend certain technical training classes, as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Supervisor, and pass this knowledge along to peers and/or mechanical maintenance personnel. h) The Mechanic 1 Technician is expected to be a self-starter, stay focused and on task with supervision from the maintenance supervisor or more experienced maintenance personnel. i) The ability to conceptualize, design, build and implement simple to intermediate mechanical systems and manufacturing equipment. j) The Mechanic 1 Technician is expected to have the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose simple to intermediate systems, including motors, bearings, valves, fluid transfer systems, cutting dies, etc. Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be physically and mentally able to perform each duty satisfactorily. This position will work overtime when required by the project timeline or to support manufacturing. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to fill this position. Education and Experience a) High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 5 - 7 years related experience and/or technical training in mechanical systems, welding, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, machine shop tool usage, plumbing; or equivalent combination of education and experience. b) Associate degree in maintenance engineering is a plus, but not required. Language Skills He or she must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, mechanical drawings, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondences; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills He or she must have the ability to calculate mechanical ratios, in addition to figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability He or she must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Also, the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, working laying down or unusual positions, use hand and eye coordination, use hand/air/electrical power tools, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10-20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
