About the role
Vir Bio is looking for a Biospecimen Data Specialist (Temporary) who will be responsible for coordinating and managing biospecimen data related to sample tracking, shipment, and reporting. Responsibilities
- Log and track all biospecimen transactions, including shipments from central labs to third-party labs, returns to sites, and sample destruction
- Maintain and update central and third-party lab databases to ensure real-time accuracy of sample records
- Develop, implement, and maintain common sample reporting plans using manual and automated tools (e.g., Excel, Smartsheet, or custom programming solutions)
- Collaborate with laboratory teams and external partners to streamline sample management processes and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational data standards for biospecimen handling and documentation

- Bachelor's degree in life sciences, data management, or a related field
- Experience with biospecimen or laboratory data management systems (e.g., Smartsheet, Excel)
- Experience with programming or automation for data tracking and reporting preferred
- Proficiency in data reporting and database maintenance
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for biospecimen management
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment

- The expected hourly range for this position is $40.00 to $45.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
