Responsibilities
- Advise clients on regulatory compliance matters related to oil and gas exploration, production, and transportation, including environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and land use issues.
- Draft and negotiate a variety of oil and gas agreements, including leases, joint operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, processing agreements and pipeline contracts.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local government laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Active bar license in at least one US State preferably Texas.
- Experience with energy-related data center transactions, including acquisitions, leases, and commercial contracts such as power purchase agreements, power supply arrangements, and utility agreements.
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience practicing law, with a focus on oil and gas law, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department setting.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state laws and regulations governing the oil and gas industry, including the Mineral Leasing Act, Clean Air Act, and Natural Gas Act.
- Experience with EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) agreements
- FERC regulatory experience
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience advising clients on upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas transactions and projects.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, with the ability to effectively advise clients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with energy commodities with an emphasis on pipelines and terminals, and experience counselling on energy compliance matters.
