About the role

As Community Manager at Colonist, you are the voice, pulse, and connector of a fast-growing global gaming community. Your mission is to build lasting relationships, keep the community thriving across Discord and beyond, run live tournaments, and turn passionate players into lifelong advocates. You won't just manage a community, you'll shape the culture of one of the most active board game platforms on the internet. You Will Own Discord: moderate channels daily, enforce community rules, manage bots and roles Write and publish all community content (patch notes, newsletters, announcements) on-brand and on time Run weekly tournaments and competitive seasons: scheduling, brackets, real-time moderation, results Build direct relationships with top players, streamers, and creators Report weekly on community sentiment: what players love, hate, and want, pulled from Discord, Reddit, and social Create onboarding content for new players: welcome flows, beginner guides, FAQs Manage the referral program: track metrics, improve mechanics, coordinate with marketing Produce posts, graphics (Canva), and short-form videos (CapCut) You Are Experienced in building and managing communities A gamer who plays board games and understands online communities first-hand AI-first. We see AI fluency as a real multiplier A Discord expert: bots, permissions, server structure, moderation A strong English writer: clear, warm, consistent across every channel Organised: you manage competing priorities without missing deadlines Empathetic: you understand players deeply and resolve conflicts calmly Data-literate: you track metrics and turn community signals into actionable reports Self-directed: you work async and deliver without hand-holding Available on weekends for tournaments and live events Bonus Points You know Catan or have played on Colonist You speak Spanish, Portuguese, or German You have video editing skills (CapCut or similar) You've grown or managed a gaming community before Our Values at Colonist We strongly adhere to these values in our team - if these resonate, then you'll love working here! Wanted: Colonist Community Manager Working Hours: We work asynchronously and value outcomes over hours Location: Fully Remote Compensation: $2,000 - $3,000 USD/month (based on experience and location) About Colonist We're building the biggest digital board game platform on the internet. Last year, our players spent 3,037 years playing 60 million games on our Settlers of Catan alternative. We're a fully remote, asynchronous team spread across multiple continents, focused on crafting extremely polished digital board games that people truly love.
