Learn about our company culture directly from our team . YOU As a Tool & Die Maker you will support manufacturing by constructing and machining details for dies. You will be responsible for repairing and building dies as well as prototypes. You will operate tool room machinery to finish precision details used to repair and maintain dies. Tool and Die Makers assists in troubleshooting die issues at the press to maintain quality and production. You understand die functions and structure by studying prints of die, products, and prototypes; apply knowledge of materials, machining concepts and assembly methods, and mathematics. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time) Select, dress, set up, and use grinding wheels for surface grinding, and form grinding. Hand grind, polish and finish die components. (30%) Perform die maintenance such as cleaning, inspection, sharpening, and preventive maintenance. Die repair, reconstruction and restoration of damaged dies as needed. (30%) Machines parts by using lathe, mill, drill press, and other typical shop equipment. (20%) Confirm assembly by verifying dimensions, clearances, and alignment of parts and components with micrometers, thickness gauges, gauge blocks, and dial indicators. Confirm performance of die at the press, check clearances, inspect operation, make adjustments, and compare finished product to specifications. (20%) DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too: Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive dies and tools experience. CAD/CAM: Ability to work with AutoCAD is a plus. Communication: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Self-Management: Ability to be self-directed to solve issues and work independently. Display a high level of initiative and effort. Creative and Innovative Thinking: Ability to experiment with new ideas, methodologies, and procedures. Teamwork: Ability to interact effectively with other technicians, employees, and vendors. Attention to Detail: Ability to diligently attend to details and pursue quality in accomplishing tasks. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment. WORK ENVIRONMENT The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts. TRAVEL REQUIRED This job does not require domestic travel. WORK STATUS & LOCATION This full-time, non-exempt position is located in McKinney, TX. RELOCATION Relocation may be considered for this position.
