Liquid Personnel is seeking an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist to join its clients innovative Double‑Handed Project Team in Brent. This service is designed to review and reduce double‑handed care packages where appropriate, promoting safe, sustainable, and person‑centred single‑handed care. You will use your expertise in manual handling, equipment provision, and environmental adaptation to support individuals in achieving maximum independence and dignity. Working collaboratively with social workers, care agencies, and wider multidisciplinary teams, you will lead on complex case reviews to ensure care delivery is both safe and efficient, contributing to least restrictive practice and achieving cost savings across the system. What will your responsibilities be? Undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify functional ability, care needs, and opportunities for single‑handed care Apply advanced manual handling knowledge to prescribe, demonstrate, and implement suitable moving and handling equipment, assistive technology, and adaptations Work closely with social workers, care agencies, and care coordinators to plan, trial, and implement safe reductions in double‑handed care where appropriate Provide expert training, guidance, and risk management advice to carers, families, and support staff in the safe use of equipment and handling techniques Ensure all interventions uphold least restrictive practice principles, promoting independence and dignity while maintaining safety Contribute to organisational efficiency through careful review and redesign of care packages that deliver sustainable cost savings without compromising quality of care Prepare clear, evidence‑based reports, risk assessments, and recommendations in line with professional standards and statutory requirements Monitor outcomes and provide follow‑up reviews to ensure interventions remain safe, effective, and person‑centred Liaise with DFG (Disabled Facilities Grant) teams, reablement services, and equipment providers to support holistic care planning Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date clinical records in accordance with HCPC and organisational standards Qualifications & Experience: Qualified and HCPC‑registered Occupational Therapist with a solid background in community practice, rehabilitation, and manual handling Extensive knowledge and practical experience in manual handling and equipment provision Ability to assess and implement single‑handed care solutions safely and effectively Strong partnership working skills with social workers, care agencies, and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes Understanding of least restrictive practice principles and how these relate to independence, dignity, and safeguarding Sound clinical reasoning, decision‑making, and problem‑solving abilities Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills Commitment to improving efficiency, achieving cost savings, and ensuring high‑quality, person‑centred care
