Requirements

  • 2+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with one or more query language (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala)
  • Experience with one or more scripting language (e.g., Python, KornShell)
  • Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR

Amazon's Worldwide Grocery Stores (WWGS) Data & Analytics is seeking a proven Data Engineer (DE) to work on medium to large cross-functional strategic initiatives that support WWGS strategic goals. This is a unique opportunity for someone inspired by WWGS core values and is interested in Amazon's high-growth grocery business to bring their whole self to the role. We are seeking a Data Engineer who will apply their technical skills to support data integration, reporting, and analytics projects. This role will be part of a team designing and building our north star data infrastructure, modernizing WWGDT's current landscape of 3p solutions. Key job responsibilities You will work alongside Senior Data Engineers, Software Developers, Business Intelligence Engineers, Analysts, Product Managers, and Program Managers inside and outside of the team to help transform large, complicated datasets into automated, digestible analytic deliverables. You will use your organization skills and high sense of ownership while learning from and collaborating with the rest of your team. You will have an opportunity to contribute to the design, architecture, and development of data products as part of our modernization effort. You will join a data engineering team well versed in the legacy solutions and be expected to ramp up quickly, take on well-scoped deliverables, and grow toward owning components of the future vision. A day in the life - Work with your leadership to define and execute the data engineering strategy for WWGDT. - Leverage SQL and coding skills (e.g., python, java, etc.) to extract, transform, and load data. - Collaborate with internal and external teams to scope, design, build, and support data pipelines focusing on performance, cost, operational excellence, continuous improvement as well as delivering business value. - Work within multiple technology stacks including working within custom built proprietary AWS framework to deliver data solutions. - Participate and lead standups and design sessions, maintain Jira health, and create artifacts. - Lead and mentor your peers.
