About the role

As a Consulting Senior Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in our consulting practice by leveraging your expertise in the petrochemical and chemical sectors to provide strategic insights and drive impactful solutions for our clients. You will work on projects that revolve around multiple business lines including olefins, plastics, aromatics, inorganics, syngas, feedstocks, and energy. You will work closely with our global team on a regular basis and you will report directly to the Operations Manager - Consulting. This is a hybrid position based at our Houston office. Chemical Market Analytics by OPIS, a Dow Jones company, enables stakeholders in the global chemical industry to improve operational efficiency with deep insights, future outlooks, price discovery and consultation from a celebrated team of subject matter experts. We offer short- and long-term market coverage for more than 200 core building-block chemicals with a full suite of advisory services and top-tier events held around the globe. The worldwide chemical industry looks to Chemical Market Analytics to guide decisions and help manage risk across the entire value chain. You Will: Conduct comprehensive research and analysis for consulting projects Apply deep knowledge of the petrochemical/chemical sector to deliver commercial and techno-economic recommendations Review and analyze market and pricing data from CMA's internal databases and publications and carry out secondary / desk research as required Act as a key team member and lead execution of project specific tasks, ensuring timely delivery and client satisfaction Collaborate with cross-functional consulting and research teams to drive project success Assist in preparation of project proposals for the clients You Have: At least 2 years' experience in a commercial or techno-economic role in the petrochemical industry or within petrochemical market consultancy Broad understanding of the petrochemicals business, the structure of the industry, the production technologies, and economic aspects such as chemical markets and pricing Written analytical reports, executed projects, and have performed market analytics and/or consultancy Used analytical skills to perform in-depth research and derive data-driven insights Effectively communicated with cross-functional teams and clients via presentations or other verbal/written interactions B.Sc./B.Eng./B.Tech. degree in chemical engineering or chemistry -OR- equivalent work experience Experience in the refining sector (preferred) A postgraduate degree in science or business management (preferred)
