Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of the manufacturing professional education course portfolio

  • Own the build of slides, writing scenarios, cases, detailed facilitator notes or video script, measurement tools and secure materials to develop the design from start to finish.
  • Actively collect feedback from learners, clients and the project team during and after a design to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the client services & broader learning and development (i.e. editors, graphic designers) teams on the development of the training.
  • Make recommendations for enhancements and/or revisions of course materials, delivery methods, and instructional practices. Integrate feedback into training materials and delivery for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct initial needs assessment and content analysis as part of the collaboration with industry and/or SMEs.
  • Author original content and modify existing materials in partnership with SMEs.
  • Create design documents (course outlines, storyboards, design mockups, etc.) to guide course development process. Design successful assessments and evaluation methods. Present documentation for evaluation decisions.
  • Provide input on the solution's design or help support its delivery, as needed.
  • This position may require direct engagement with minors and youth during program activities. The employee is expected to fully adhere to all university policies and state regulations pertaining to the safety and protection of minors.

Job Description Purpose: The Instructional Designer II will be responsible for working with the SME to develop course content based on the following process: needs assessment, identification of learning objectives/competencies, course outline development, storyboarding, content creation (narrative and presentation), formative assessment and evaluation. Ensure completeness of course elements and confirm alignment of course content to the approved course outline. Develop and/or maintain systems to ensure quality, productivity as well as consistency across content. Work with team to assess course performance to determine return-on-investment and future opportunities.
