More about the role: Direct Impact is the grassroots communications practice of Burson (a WPP agency), with a presence in every media market and political jurisdiction across the U.S. Our team of local experts helps clients localize and execute national campaigns, providing direct access to communities across the country. We are seeking an Account Executive who will help clients achieve grassroots, public affairs, and communications success. This client-facing position will support the strategic planning, management, and execution of integrated campaigns spanning earned media, specialty events, digital and social media, influencer engagement, coalition building, and issue advocacy. This is an opportunity to work with clients on specialized local campaigns that enhance reputation, strengthen community relationships, and support corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day client communications and account management activities.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of grassroots, public affairs, and communications campaigns across targeted local markets throughout the U.S.
  • Coordinate project deliverables across internal teams, local market partners, consultants, and vendors to ensure seamless execution.
  • Contribute to earned media outreach, specialty events, stakeholder engagement, coalition-building efforts, and advocacy initiatives.
  • Draft proposals, strategy documents, client correspondence, briefing materials, and other communications assets.
  • Support the creation of client reports and presentations by helping identify key trends, summarize campaign performance, and synthesize insights from media coverage and other data sources.
  • Partner with teammates to develop visually compelling presentations and communications materials using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Explore and leverage AI-powered tools to improve workflows, streamline content development, support research, and enhance day-to-day productivity.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of client businesses, priorities, and objectives while proactively identifying opportunities and challenges.
  • Experience that contributes to success:
  • 1+ years of experience in public affairs, government relations, strategic communications, public relations, or political communications.
  • Interest in public relations or public affairs with a focus on earned media, corporate communications, advocacy campaigns, or grassroots engagement.
  • Experience working in an agency and/or in-house corporate communications environment is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of communications, public relations, grassroots advocacy, or integrated marketing campaigns is preferred.
  • Strong project management skills, organizational abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of integrated earned, digital, and social campaigns for diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with reporting and analytics, including identifying trends and helping develop client-ready reports and presentations, is a plus but not required.
  • Design fluency and experience creating presentations or visual content using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
  • Curiosity about emerging AI technologies and familiarity with incorporating AI tools into communications or operational workflows is a plus.
