Position Summary The Extrusion Manager is a key member of the Plant Management Team, responsible for leading the extrusion department to safely produce high-quality extrusions at the lowest cost. This role oversees production performance, staffing, quality, safety, and operational efficiency while fostering a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and customer focus. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Champion a zero-injury safety culture by actively engaging employees at all levels and collaborating with EHS to ensure compliance and safe work practices. Lead the extrusion operations team, including supervisors, die shop, production scheduling, and logistics, to meet or exceed KPIs in throughput, recovery, scrap reduction, and on-time delivery. Collaborate with sales, quality, and engineering teams to ensure customer satisfaction, address quality concerns, and meet product specifications. Develop, coach, and train department personnel, ensuring proper staffing, cross-training, and leadership development. Monitor and manage department manning, labor costs, production efficiency, and asset utilization to achieve financial and operational objectives. Review production data, quality results, and downtime causes to drive root cause problem solving and implement corrective actions. Partner with leadership to create strategic plans, capital asset requests, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and profitability. Develop and maintain operational metrics to measure and drive performance improvement. Work closely with maintenance to ensure reliable press performance and minimal unplanned downtime. Promote cross-functional communication and collaboration to ensure smooth material flow and effective scheduling.
