About the role

Data engineers build. Data scientists model. But someone needs to decide what gets built, why it matters, and whether it's actually delivering value. That's this role. You'll own a portfolio of data products within a domain - defining what each product is, who it serves, and what outcome it drives. You'll maintain the roadmap, make trade-offs, drive adoption, and kill things that aren't working. You're the interface between business stakeholders who need data to make decisions and the engineering teams who build it. This isn't a reporting role or a project management role. It's product management applied to data: own the product, define the value, control the cost, and drive the decision.

Responsibilities

  • Owning a portfolio of data products within a domain - defining purpose, users, scope, and success criteria for each
  • Maintaining and prioritising the domain product roadmap, aligned to strategic priorities with transparent trade-offs
  • Acting as the primary interface between domain leadership and data delivery teams - translating business priorities into product direction
  • Defining metrics, logic, and SLAs in collaboration with modelling and engineering, ensuring products are consistent with enterprise semantics
  • Driving adoption - making sure products are discoverable, trusted, understood, and actually used
  • Owning cost and usage accountability - monitoring spend vs. value, eliminating unused or duplicated outputs, and optimising the portfolio
  • Conducting regular discovery with data consumers to surface unmet needs and feed real demand into the roadmap
  • Managing change across the portfolio - versioning, deprecation, consumer communication, and migration support
  • Ensuring products meet governance, quality, and regulatory standards with clear ownership, lineage, and metadata
  • About you
  • 5+ years in data product management, analytics, or closely related roles within financial services
  • Strong product management capability in a data/analytics context - not just delivery, but ownership
  • Ability to define data products with clear commercial or operational outcomes
  • Experience prioritising and making trade-offs in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Strong stakeholder management - comfortable challenging and influencing senior leaders
