About the role

This position is located in Region IV - Division of Radiological Safety and Security. After the reorganization this position will be located in CNRI/Plant Support Branch. The supervisor is Jesse Rollins. This position IS subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting requirements. This position IS subject to security ownership restriction reporting requirements. In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as: experience that demonstrates experience in the technical aspects of NRC programs and policies and inspections relating to programs that require work with radiological safety technology, including radiation physics and dosimetry, with particular emphasis on the use of ionizing radiation in medicine and industry. Candidates should also have recent experience associated with a regulatory program focused on safety. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: 1. Knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices in the field of radiological health and safety. 2. Ability to perform evaluations and analysis of radiological health hazards, radiation control programs, environmental monitoring programs, radiological procedures, and radiation detection systems/equipment. 3. Knowledge of the NRC rules, regulations, and procedures pertaining to inspection and enforcement of licensees. 4. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, and to coordinate with other NRC offices, other government agencies, the public, the press and industry groups varied complex and sometimes controversial technical problems. 5. Ability to lead, mentor, and coach other assigned inspectors.
