Requirements

• Must be a resident of Jefferson County, Alabama.
• Must be a registered voter in Jefferson County, Alabama.
• Must currently be the owner of homesteaded, taxable property in Jefferson County, Alabama for a minimum of five years.
• Must have a minimum of five years of experience in real estate, accounting, or finance.
• If you do not meet all four of the necessary qualifications, you will not be deemed qualified for this position.
• No Member may serve for more than two consecutive terms.

TARGET CLOSE DATE: 07/03/2026 PAY GRADE: POL TYPE: Part time JOB SUMMARY: The Board consists of five members who serve as a quasi-judicial review panel for property owners who wish to challenge the market value and resulting assessment of their property. Market values assessed by a Property Appraiser may be changed by the Board when a property owner can prove the appraised value is not based on the property's fair market value. NOTE: This position is an appointed position and is not a part of the classified system. This position is not afforded the rights of a classified position. This position is for a four-year term. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: $41,625 per year (includes an expense allowance and car allowance)
