About the role

A leading global macro hedge fund is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its hedge fund business across investment, financing, fund, and regulatory matters. This is a high-impact role for a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys working close to the investment floor and acting as a trusted legal partner to the business. This role offers broad exposure across a sophisticated hedge fund platform, combining hands-on transactional work with strategic advisory input. You will play a key role in supporting investment activity and risk management, with increasing ownership and autonomy as the business continues to grow internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting legal matters across the hedge fund business, including investment activity, fund structures, financing, and operations.
  • Advising investment teams on credit-focused strategies, structured transactions, and bespoke investments across public and private markets.
  • Assisting with financing and leverage arrangements, including prime brokerage, repo, and securities-based financing documentation.
  • Supporting fund-level matters such as liquidity terms, side letters, investor structuring, and service-provider relationships.
  • Advising on relevant UK and EU regulatory matters (including FCA, AIFMD, and MiFID II), in coordination with compliance and senior legal colleagues.
  • Partnering with portfolio managers, operations, risk, and compliance on new strategies, product launches, and ongoing business initiatives.

Requirements

  • UK-qualified solicitor with 3 - 6 years' PQE.
  • Experience from a leading law firm and/or in-house role with exposure to hedge funds, asset management, banking, or investment platforms.
  • Strong foundation in finance, funds, or derivatives, with exposure to credit or structured products preferred.
  • Experience supporting financing arrangements and counterparty documentation.
  • Practical working knowledge of UK and EU asset management regulation.
  • Comfortable operating in a lean, fast-paced environment with direct front-office exposure.
