Job Purpose: The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) advisor team advise on legal and other requirements affecting EHS at the site. Their purpose is to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, and internal Engineering and EHS standards in order to ensure safe manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients. They also ensure that there is continuous improvement and adoption of best practice/best available techniques for EHS matters. They provide direct support to the site's operational areas and support functions and also participate in the delivery of EHS training and awareness. Key Responsibilities (include, but not limited to): Support the EHS Lead, EHS team members and various directorates to ensure that EHS is maintained to a high standard on site and that there is safe manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients. Maintaining the site's EHS management system to ensure compliance with legal and other requirements while also facilitating continuous improvement. Assist in the upkeep of the safety reporting database and drive the timely investigation and closure of unusual incident reports (UIRs), with particularly focus on corrective and preventative action for high hazard activities, as well as providing support to line managers to assist them with their investigations. Ensuring that all personnel at site comply with the requirements of GSK's life saving rules. Lead and contribute to EHS self inspection and internal audits and provide support to the site during regulatory and other inspections or audits. Maintain liaison with other GSK business areas, external EHS consultants, outside Industry and Trade Bodies and with regulators such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA). Representing the EHS team on project matters and supporting the safe delivery of projects at site. Keeping up to date with modern processes and techniques with reference to EHS. Support the EHS Lead in devising strategic opportunities to continually improve EHS controls on the site and contribute and support a learning environment for EHS topics to all staff on site.
