  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation - BLS, issued by the American Heart Association
  • Clinical experience should include inpatient care management for either trauma or general surgery patient populations
  • Preferred:
  • 1-2 years of experience in general or trauma surgery

Northwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for either a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to work in our inpatient Trauma Surgery department. The Inpatient Trauma Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) support clinical operations by conducting daily patient assessments, participating in multidisciplinary morning rounds, delivering postoperative education, and coordinating care across interdisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include performing interval histories and physical examinations, documenting patient encounters, and interpreting daily laboratory and imaging results. APPs play a key role in ensuring continuity of care for patients while collaborating closely with rotating attending physicians and resident services. Schedule: 4 ten hours shifts per week and Saturday coverage will be required (One out of every 4 weeks). The Saturday shift will be incorporated into the providers 4 shifts per week and not in addition to. No nights, on-call, or holidays. Essential Functions : Demonstrates clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities which may include diagnosis and management of a wide range of health problems. Responsible for health outcome of an assigned patient population. Confers with collaborating physician and other health professionals in area of clinical expertise. Develops appropriate educational systems for patients, families and staff in areas of expertise. Mentors graduate students in aspects of advanced practice and patient care. Actively participates in quality improvement and/or research pertinent to area of expertise.
