Responsibilities

  • Captive and Enterprise Insurance Operations and Governance

  • Partner with brokers to benchmark coverage, negotiate terms, and place fronting and reinsurance structures behind the captive.
  • Manage fronting carriers and reinsurers: contracts/treaties, counterparty due diligence, and collateral arrangements to support credit for reinsurance and fronting obligations.
  • Oversee captive manager scope and performance (accounting, regulatory, treasury, policy admin, claims coordination).
  • Orchestrate auditors, actuaries, bankers/investment advisors: audit timelines, actuarial deliverables, LOC/trust administration and investment eligibility.
  • Program Strategy, Renewals and Analytics
  • Lead renewal strategy: exposure data gathering, application completeness, and scenario analyses (retention, attachment points, diversification effects) to optimize total cost of risk.
  • Assess lines appropriate for captive retention and evaluate feasibility/expansion opportunities (including cell structures as relevant).
  • Track industry trends and domicile developments to inform program evolution and governance enhancements.

  • Structure collateral solutions (LOCs, trust accounts) for fronting and reinsurance credit; monitor amounts, evergreen provisions, and release mechanics as program years mature.
  • Optimize capital & liquidity between parent and captive (cash, investments, dividend planning) while meeting solvency and regulatory requirements.
  • Claims Oversight and Loss Control
  • Establish claims governance: monitor claim reserves/trends, challenge large-loss strategies, and ensure timely reporting and disposition; coordinate TPAs and defense counsel as needed.
  • Translate claims insights into actionable loss prevention and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Executive Advising
  • Serve as trusted advisor to senior leaders and business units on insurance and risk financing decisions; prepare executive briefings and board materials with clear, data-driven recommendations.
